Who protested? Members of the Delhi Taxi, Tourist Transporters and Tour Operators Association (DTTTTOA), led by president Sanjay Samrat. About 100 people took part, according to The Hindu.
What was the plan? They wanted a march towards Parliament / Jantar Mantar against mandatory E20. Police did not give permission for that route.
What happened instead? The group moved towards Rajghat, saw heavy police presence, and called off the bigger march. They still held a protest and submitted a detailed representation to Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari asking for a review of E20 and other commercial-vehicle rules.
What are they saying? They report mileage loss and higher costs. Gadkari told Parliament that E20 can cut fuel economy by about 2% to 6%. The association says older vehicles can lose much more — up to around 20% in some cases (their claim). Main demand: sell E0, E5 and E10 along with E20 so older vehicles are not forced onto one blend.
Not politics, they say: Samrat has said the association is not linked to E20 Janta Party or CJP, and that this is about commercial vehicle users’ livelihood.
