What happened on 4 August 2026? AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal led a small march of about 100 people towards the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi. They were carrying more than 2.30 lakh petitions against E20 petrol, collected from people across the country.
Where did police stop them? Delhi Police stopped the group near 5, Firoz Shah Road. Police said nobody would be allowed beyond that point and that security had been increased. The Prime Minister did not meet the delegation.
What did AAP do next? Kejriwal, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, AAP leader Jasmine Shah and other leaders sat on the road with the petition bundles. This was a sit-in / dharna-style protest after the march was blocked. Police later took custody of the petitions. Kejriwal later said the papers had been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office.
What is AAP asking for? Choice at the pump — pure petrol (E0) and E20 both available. If E20 is promoted, they want it sold cheaper because it gives lower mileage. Kejriwal said AAP had asked for a meeting with the PM about a month earlier and got no appointment. He called the refusal a “dictatorial attitude” (his words, as reported).
How is this different from Poonawalla’s protest? This was an AAP political party programme with petitions. Tehseen Poonawalla / Team Bharat is a separate citizen campaign. Do not mix the two.
